Planning for Spiritual Excellence | The Daniel Fast
At Living Grace, we want greater empowerment for God’s purposes in 2021. Accordingly, we will start the Daniel Fast on Monday, January 11, 2021, and concluding on Monday, February 1, 2021. It is our custom to fast in the first month of the year to see God’s glory manifest in our individual and collective lives. Fasting is a method practiced by God’s people to enter into the spiritual discipline of prayer and fasting. The Daniel Fast is a biblically based partial fast.
There are two anchoring scriptures for the Daniel Fast. In Daniel 1 the prophet ate only vegetables (that would have included fruits) and drank only water. So from these scriptures we get two of the guidelines for the fast:
Primarily fruits and vegetables
Only water for a beverage.
A downloadable PDF listing of acceptable foods can be found below:
The Daniel Fast teaches us to deny “ourselves” and instead put our spirit in control over our flesh. As you plan your meals and eat your food, keep in mind that the definition of a fast is to deny food for a spiritual purpose. Living Grace’s purpose is for our membership to commit to mental, physical, emotional and spiritual growth.

2021 LIVING GRACE THEME:
VICTORIOUS LIVING THROUGH CHRIST
For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world- our faith.
